MEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 18, 2005 – Florida sugarcane growers now have a new herbicide to add to their weed control portfolio. DuPont™ K-4™ herbicide provides excellent residual control of panicum, alexandergrass, morningglory and a variety of other winter weeds, plus suppression of bermudagrass. “DuPont™ K-4™ herbicide provides economical broad-spectrum control of weeds and grasses in one easy-to-use product,” said Mike Cunnane, DuPont product manager. “It provides excellent burndown of small established weeds and grasses and can be tank mixed with other herbicides registered for use on sugarcane.” K-4™ can be applied postemergence to stubble sugarcane until the crop reaches a height of 18 inches or, in Florida, within 234 days of harvest, whichever is more restrictive. It is formulated as a dispersible granule, and may be applied at a maximum single application rate of 4 pounds broadcast per acre. Total yearly application may not exceed 7.5 pounds per year. K-4™ is also easy to handle. Its dispersible granules have strong resuspendibility when spraying gets delayed while the new formulation affords up to a 14-day window for rainfall activation.
