# Overall Process

The process steps of the University Compounds Program include:

  1. You express interest in participating in the program.
  2. A simple agreement is executed.
  3. You submit compound structures.
  4. DuPont selects compounds which are of interest and notifies you.
  5. You send samples of the selected compounds.
  6. DuPont receives the compounds and sends you payment.
  7. DuPont tests the compounds to determine their activity potential and need for follow-up.

Expression of Interest

Simply send us your completed enrollment form. If DuPont accepts, you will be issued security clearance to enter the agreement phase.

A non-exclusive agreement is executed regulating the initial phases of this program. Upon execution of the agreement you may start the submittal process.

Submit Compound Structures.

The university researcher submits a list of compounds available for study.

Compounds listed must be available in quantities of 20 micromoles and be at least 90% “pure” in relation to the structure proposed.

DuPont Selection Process

DuPont will consider the structure list submitted taking into account all information known to it and select those specific compounds it desires to evaluate.

DuPont will then send an electronic message to the university researcher notifying which compounds are desired for its biological testing program.

Concurrently, DuPont will send by courier mail bar-coded vials and packaging material necessary for sample submission.

Send Selected Compounds

The university researcher sends the selected compound samples (15-25 micromoles each) using the supplies furnished by DuPont and according to the specific shipping instructions.

Payment for Compounds Received

Following receipt of the compound samples and electronic invoice, DuPont arranges an incentive payment for each selected sample by electronic fund transfer.

Testing Process and Follow-up

DuPont initiates the timely testing of each sample in an extensive battery of sensitive, replicated, quality-controlled bioassays on plant pathogens, insect pests and weeds. These bioassays are designed to give each sample maximum opportunity to express even low levels of biological activity. Active samples are advanced to additional bioassays to confirm activity, assess potency and define additional pest species controlled.

Where the sample demonstrates interesting biological activity, DuPont will contact the university researcher for the purpose of arranging a cooperative R&D program.
