DuPont
India actively supports community causes through funds and employee
involvement.
In a show of care, concern and solidarity with the victims of
the January 26, 2001 earthquake in Gujarat, DuPont donated over
Rs 51 lakh (US$ 107,600) towards relief. In addition, DuPont
employees contributed one day's salary to the Gujarat Chief
Minister's Relief Fund.
In June 2001, DuPont gifted US$ 15,000 to M.S. Swaminathan,
Research Foundation, Chennai, a leading Indian institution engaged
in harnessing science and technology for environmentally sustainable
and socially equitable development. Set up in 1988 by Prof M.S.
Swaminathan, considered the father of India's 'Green Revolution',
the foundation has taken the initiative to spread public awareness
to phase out CFCs to address global concern over depletion of
Ozone Layer. |
