DuPont and Dow Silicones Corporation showcase material innovation for healthcare applications
A unique combination of high performance specialty polymers and silicone elastomers, adhesives and fluid applications advances design of medical grade solutions
Geneva, 15 October, 2018 – For the first time in Europe, DuPont and Dow Silicones Corporation, subsidiaries of the Specialty Products Division of DowDuPont feature their extended portfolio of innovative medical grade specialty polymers and silicone elastomers, adhesives and fluids solutions at the Fakuma trade fair taking place from 16 to 18 October 2018 in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
DuPont and Dow Silicones Corporation are bringing together two strong material portfolios which expand the range of unique design solutions available to customers in the medical device industry:
- Dow Corning™-branded medical silicones offer a versatile range of silicone-based performance enhancing materials for the healthcare industry, including silicone elastomers, soft-skin adhesives, solutions for siliconization and device adhesion, as well as a broader offering of liquid silicone rubber;
- DuPont delivers high-quality thermoplastics used in the manufacture of demanding components in various applications such as drug delivery devices (inhalers and injectors), wearables, prosthetics and wound care.
This combined portfolio is drawing on both companies’ legacy in material research, application development, technology and regulatory compliance expertise to advance healthcare through material innovation, backed by global manufacturing and supply strength.

At Fakuma, the newest generation of Dow Corning™-branded silicone-based Low Temperature Processing and Self Bonding LSR, soft-skin and pressure sensitive adhesives as well as tubes connections will be featured, along with the medical device components made with DuPont specialty polymers. The latter will spotlight its Crastin® SC193 NC010 polybutylene terephthalate resin reinforced with 30% glass fibre which can be processed using injection molding. The blend has been developed for the healthcare industry and offers excellent dimensional stability, surface aspect and low warpage.
