New Hytrel® HTR8745 BK320 Thermoplastic Polyester Elastomer for Automotive Inboard CVJ Boots

Building on over 30 years and 1 billion CVJ boots manufactured with DuPontTM HYTREL®

Geneva, 15 October, 2018 – DuPont Transportation & Advanced Polymers, a newly formed business segment within DowDuPont’s Specialty Products Division, is introducing DuPont™ Hytrel® HTR8745 BK320 a new grade of TPC-ET developed for blow molding of constant velocity joint (CVJ) inboard boots. An industry leader in co-polyester elastomer solutions for CVJ boots, DuPont has engineered a next-generation, high-performance thermoplastic elastomer with excellent heat and fatigue resistance.

“Introduced in 1984 for automotive CVJ outboard boots, Hytrel® is the industry standard for excellent balance of grease resistance, high-temperature durability, low-temperature flexibility and historically proven performance,” said Laurent Lefebvre, marketing manager, DuPont Transportation & Advanced Polymers. “This next-generation material for blow molding builds on a proud heritage and provides further advancements specifically for CVJ inboard boot applications.”

DuPont™ Hytrel® HTR8745 BK320 provides multiple benefits that include:

·         Improved processing (press blow molding, injection blow molding) with low die swell and better parison

          stability

·         Good thermal resistance up to 140°C

·         Flex-fatigue resistance for long boot life

·         Abrasion resistance for high-angle installation with compact boot designs

·         Tear resistance for protection from road debris

·         Stiffness to resist ballooning

·         Low grease permeation for extended joint life

DuPont™ Hytrel® also is used for other automotive powertrain and chassis applications such as air ducts, steering rack & pinion boots and propeller shaft boots.
