Sergio Nanita is an analytical chemist and mass spectrometrist known for his innovative methods for rapid trace-level detection of chemicals in the most complex systems. His analytical methods have proven useful at DuPont to address challenges in agricultural chemistry, environmental sciences, food safety, chemical genomics, industrial waste treatment and forensic sciences. Sergio’s work is inspiring scientists to adopt his methods for faster analysis and increase operational efficiency of laboratories around the world. At DuPont Crop Protection, Sergio has led several analytical chemistry projects that support the development of novel agricultural products, their registration and launch into global markets to address the need for increased food production.

Mary Whitmoyer is an early-career Chemical Engineer at the Edge Moor Plant site in the DuPont Titanium Technologies (DTT) business. Prior to joining DuPont in a full-time capacity, Mary interned with the DuPont Engineering Technology organization. As a Research and Development Engineer at the Edge Moor manufacturing site, Mary implements technical programs that support reliable plant operation, enhance product quality, and promote environmental stewardship. Mary has led several longer-term research initiatives for product development and to improve process technology. She is an active member of several DTT technology networks and enjoys collaborating with her science and engineering colleagues from other DTT production sites.

Aileen Van-Nguyen is a strategic alliance manager for DuPont Crop Protection Research and Development. She leads the global alliance network, including Alliance Partners, Research Collaborators and Contract Research Organizations to affordably meet business requirements for discovery, new product development, as well as existing product support.

As the son of a DuPont chemist, Andrew was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. He received his B.A. in chemistry at Cornell University, and subsequently his M.A. and Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University, where he developed new catalytic asymmetric reaction methodologies catalyzed by cinchona alkaloids. This research earned him a fellowship from the Division of Organic Chemistry, of the American Chemical Society. In his time at DuPont Andrew has been a chemistry team leader on many projects dedicated to the discovery of fungicides and herbicides for use in global cereals production.

Chase Barnhart serves as a manufacturing technology engineer in a facility that produces a diverse portfolio of thermoplastic engineering resins. His daily focus is to improve existing manufacturing processes and support new developments. ase is also responsible for providing engineering guidance for capital projects worth more than $1 million and leading initiatives to improve the reliability of manufacturing assets. Chase’s contributions have resulted in manufacturing productivity improvements and improving quality for Crastin® polyester resin, Rynite® polyester resin, and Delrin® acetal resins.

In 2008, Bianca began her DuPont career as an analytical laboratory supervisor and quality specialist for our Chambers Works Fluoroproducts Production area. There she had responsibility over the unit ISO 9001 quality compliance and product specification testing. She also supported the production processes and packaging areas. She later moved to the Chestnut Run Plaza to manage the Fluorochemicals Technical Services Lab. This lab includes DuPont Refrigerants and the new Low Global Warming Potential Opteon™ Refrigerants, as well as Fluorochemical Propellants, Foam Expansion Agents, Clean Agent Fire Extinguishants, Specialty Fluids and Electronic Gases. The Chestnut Run lab provides analytical laboratory testing and technical guidance for the products from basic research, continuing through scale-up and manufacturing and technical service.

Hari Sunkara is a Senior Research Associate and a pioneer in “green chemistry.” With approximately 130 patent applications, he thrives on the discovery of new chemical materials that combine sustainability and performance benefits. Hari is a Technical Team Leader guiding work on industrial uses for DuPont’s Plenish™ high oleic soybean oil. Besides leading a team, he also conducts his own project-related research. Hari is also a DuPont Fellows Forum Associate and has published several articles on bio-based polyols.

As a Research Fellow, Steve Allen’s innovative work and the analytical techniques he has pioneered are now used to guide the development of the next generation of high performance fiber products and processes. In 2013, Steve received DuPont’s Pedersen Medal in recognition of his contributions to the development of the fundamental science of advanced fibers linking their chemistry, processing, structure and properties. Beyond the processing of polymers to create fibers, Steve has developed new test methodologies and mechanical characterizations that have led to fundamental understanding of the polymer physics that underlie today’s high performance fibers such as Kevlar® and Nomex®.

Calvin Chien, a DuPont Fellow, is a world renowned engineering authority in environmental containment, transport modeling, and hydrogeology. He is also a member of the DuPont Lavoisier Academy for Technical Achievement. He joined DuPont from Conoco in 1986 to become a technology leader in the investigation and remediation of soil and groundwater contamination. His precedent-setting work over his career brought together the research, industry, and regulatory communities to examine and address collaboratively tough environmental technical challenges. Today Calvin spends much of his time in China leading collaboration in cooperation with Chinese universities and government and industrial institutes in the development of remediation technology. Calvin helped initiate the multi-year Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) effort that will have a significant lasting impact on soil remediation and environmental protection in China.
