Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Nicholas C. Fanandakis is executive vice president and chief financial officer. In this role, he also has responsibility for Corporate Plans and has led significant business portfolio changes that have strengthened the company and better positioned it for growth. In the past four years, Mr. Fanandakis has overseen the $7 billion acquisition of Danish food ingredients maker Danisco, the divestiture of DuPont’s $4.9 billion coating business and the $6 billion separation of its chemicals businesses.

He joined DuPont in 1979 as an accounting and business analyst in the Petrochemicals Department in Wilmington, Delaware.

Over the next several years, Mr. Fanandakis served in a variety of plant, marketing and product management positions within Petrochemicals, Chemicals & Pigments, and Specialty Chemicals. He also spent nearly six years in the Fluorochemicals business. In 1993, he was appointed regional manager in Specialty Chemicals, and two years later he was named business manager for Safety and Environmental Management Services. In January 1997, he was appointed to the position of global business and operations manager, Peroxygens.

Mr. Fanandakis was appointed to the position of business director, Industrials in October 1999.  There, he had responsibility for the Industrial Solutions market space, which included Acrylonitrile, Anchorage Systems, Aniline, Aramid Intermediates, Cyanides, Dimethyl Sulfate, Methylamines, Reactive Metals, Refinery, Secure Environmental Treatment, and DuPont™ Vazo® Free Radical Initiators. He was named vice president and general manager for DuPont Chemical Solutions Enterprise in September 2003.

In February 2007, he was named vice president of Corporate Plans. The following year, he was named group vice president of DuPont Applied BioSciences.  Mr. Fanandakis was named to his current position in November 2009. 

Mr. Fanandakis joined the board of FTI Consulting, Inc., in January 2014 and serves as a chair of the Audit Committee.  In October 2016 he was elected to the board of directors of ITT Inc.

Born in Boston, Mass., Mr. Fanandakis obtained BA Accounting and MBA Business Administration degrees from Northeastern University (1979) and Grand Valley State College (1984).
