In 2013, DuPont Crop Protection developed and implemented the first Asia Pacific Product Stewardship Day. World Environment Day provided the backdrop for the events as Crop Protection’s country teams in Asia Pacific used the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to stewardship. Stakeholders at all levels were invited to engage in simple, yet creative, activities to promote six key stewardship principles: The proper use of personal protective equipment(PPE), integrated pest management(IPM), product label awareness, pest resistance management, proper disposal of used containers and awareness of counterfeit products.
In 2014, Asia Pacific Product Stewardship Day was honored with an Agrow Award for Best Public Outreach Program. (The Agrow Awards are presented annually by Agrow, a leading provider of news, analysis, and data for the global agriculture industry to recognize excellence in areas of technology and business. Awardees are selected by a group of independent judges comprised of experts in agriculture from industry and academia.)
Now in its third year, the 2015 Asia Pacific Product Stewardship Day had 21,000 farmers, students, distributors, retailers and government officials participate – the largest event to-date.
Asia Pacific Product Stewardship Day is a unique outreach program that was developed to reinforce and share DuPont Core Values. It requires hard work and dedication from many people in many countries across an entire region. This program strengthens DuPont connections with customers and influencers.
This program was conducted by DuPont Crop Protection in a region with emerging markets, some of which were establishing their first sales with customers. It required simultaneous coordination and execution, which speaks volumes to the effort. It is a true testament to our commitment to stewardship and outreach. Over its three-year life, the program has reached literally tens of thousands of agricultural stakeholders.
The bottom-line - Asia Pacific Product Stewardship Day is now a best practice and an annual event across the region to promote our steadfast commitment to proper stewardship.
