DuPont pledges to support LGBTQ+ equality 2018

DuPont and 55 other U.S. companies advocate for LGBTQ+ equality and legal protections.

DuPont, along with The Dow Company and Corteva Agriscience™, pledged their support for transgender equality by signing a statement with other major U.S. companies. The statement, organized by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and other community organizations, was drafted in response to rising concerns that administrative and legislative efforts may be underway to erase transgender protections through reinterpretation of existing laws and regulations.

According to HRC, the 56 companies signing the statement represent nearly 4.8 million employees, have a collective annual revenue of more than $2.4 trillion, and are drawn from a broad range of industries including financial services, consumer products, and technology. Additional corporate signatories are expected to join the letter in the coming days.

As a company, DuPont values a diverse and inclusive workplace, as well as the commitment it takes to realize its benefits. Diverse and inclusive practices accelerate innovation and productivity and ultimately lead to business growth. Respect for people is a DuPont core value, and the leadership team firmly believes every employee is responsible for ensuring a respectful workplace where people are treated fairly and consistently, and differences are accepted and embraced.

This year, DuPont was recognized by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) as a best place to work for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality, making it the eleventh time the company earned this honor. The company has been a strong voice for LGBTQ+ equality at the state and local level, joining companies in support of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, the Equality Act, Marriage Equality and state-specific legislation.

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) remain a key component of the company's Diversity & Inclusion strategy, allowing employees to work strategically, both internally and externally, while striving to build a respectful and inclusive environment.
