GVK Expressway - Side-by-Side Comparison of Lanes

After a few years of service in India, side-by-side expressway lanes (above) show better binder retention with Elvaloy® RET-modified asphalt (right lane).

GVK Expressway (Jaipur to Kishangarh) in the State of Rajasthan is located in a high-temperature desert zone, with sections subject to heavy traffic. The road had shown signs of rutting and stripping during construction period itself and this was repaired in November 2005 by milling and relaying the surface of damaged lanes using modified bitumen made with Elvaloy® RET. The result was side-by-side (unmodified vs modified) lanes (see photo), allowing binder performance comparisons. Lanes made with Elvaloy® show its benefits in combating stripping and rutting.
