Improving Energy Efficiency
Strategic energy management pays.
Many industrial companies today are beginning or accelerating programs designed to reduce their energy consumption. These efforts are being driven by a number of factors, such as increasing energy costs or public pressure to reduce environmental footprint. Whatever the driver, many business leaders are coming to the conclusion that working on reducing energy consumption is a key business strategy – one that pays.
No matter what the driver, many companies approach energy efficiency assuming that an effective energy program can only be implemented through a significant outlay of capital. Although these types of investments can be an important part of an energy strategy, they are not the only, or even the first consideration when designing an energy reduction and cost saving transformation.
DuPont's experience as owner/operators of more than 200 production facilities worldwide suggests that a highly significant portion—in fact, approximately 40% of the total energy efficiency improvement opportunity—is achievable by changing the “energy culture” and focusing on the implementation of low cost/no cost continuous improvement projects.
Our experienced consultants approach energy efficiency improvement from a low or no-capital investment perspective, and work in close collaboration with clients to identify, and prioritize energy savings opportunities as well as develop managing processes that will enable sustainability of gains. Through this close collaboration, an improvement roadmap is developed to prioritize and execute improvement projects and managing processes. The objective of the improvement roadmap is to drive continuous improvement in energy performance, long-term cost savings, and reduction in carbon emissions.
DuPont best practices in energy and environmental management have delivered significant efficiencies and savings.
