FeXapan™ Herbicide Application Requirements

FeXapan™ Application Best Practices and Stewardship

Protecting the value of herbicides is everyone’s job. Using best practices when applying DuPont™ FeXapan™ herbicide Plus VaporGrip® Technology and all herbicides helps ensure effective use this season and for seasons to come. Smart application and stewardship of these necessary crop protection tools also helps prevent spread of herbicide-resistant weeds.

RESTRICTED USE PESTICIDE: For retail sale to and use only by Certified Applicators or persons under their direct supervision and only for those uses covered by the Certified Applicator’s certification.

  • FeXapan™ Application Requirements

Always follow all label requirements when applying FeXapan™ herbicide to reduce risk of off-target movement.

  • 1. Tank-Mix Guidelines

Do not use ammonium sulfate (AMS) and AMS-containing products. EPA requires qualification of tank-mix products before the use of FeXapan™ applications for all uses, all application timings. Check this site within seven (7) days of application.

    Approved Tank-Mix Partners

    2. Nozzles and Operating Pressure

Use only approved nozzles and operating pressure. Check this site within seven (7) days of application.

    Find Approved Nozzles

    3. Boom Height

Maintaining nozzle tip height of 24 inches above the crop canopy or target pest encourages maximum spray coverage while reducing off-target drift potential.

    Go to Boom Height

    4. Application Timing

Applying herbicides to weeds that are 4 inches or less in height improves weed control. Herbicides must not be applied later than soybean growth stage R1, regardless of weed height.

    Go to Application Timing

    5. Ground Speeds

Only apply herbicides at ground speeds of 15 miles per hour or slower to provide effective herbicide application. Check with your state for specific ground speed application requirements

    6. Triple-Rinse Cleanout Procedure

Start with thoroughly clean spray application equipment to avoid contaminating the FeXapan™ with residual AMS, water conditioners or other herbicides. Immediately following application, thoroughly rinsing sprayers three times (3x) protects against unwanted herbicide residue that may damage non-target susceptible crops. Check the label for other detailed clean-out requirements.

    7. Buffer Requirements

A downwind buffer is always required. Maintain a 110-foot downwind buffer when applying 22 fluid ounces per acre; or a 220-foot downwind buffer when applying 22 + to 44 fluid ounces per acre.

    Go to Buffer Requirements

    8. Wind Speed

Apply herbicides when wind speed is between 3 and 10 miles per hour as measured at boom height.
