Building projects are ranked according to a point system for platinum, gold, silver and bronze certifications. This program is part of the U.S. Green Building Council.
Sorona® helps contribute to LEED® points in three areas of materials and resources:
- Rapidly Renewable Materials: Use rapidly renewable building materials and products (made from plants that are typically harvested within a ten-year cycle or shorter) for 5% of total value of all building materials and products used in the project.
- Regional Materials: Use a minimum of 20% of building materials and products that are manufactured regionally within a radius of 500 miles.
- Indoor Air Quality (IEQ): Use low-emitting carpet systems that meet or exceed the requirements of the Carpet and Rug Institute's Green Label Indoor Air Quality Test Program.
