DuPont™ Kevlar® AP for Hoses - Taiwanese hose manufacturer improves safety of high-pressure hoses
Taiwanese hose manufacturer meets customer need for improved burst pressure
One of the largest plastic extruders in Taiwan, Gee-Chang Nylon Plastic Co, Ltd., has built a reputation for quality, service, versatility and progressive technology. When Gee-Chang was looking for a way to improve the safety of its high-pressure hydraulic industrial hoses, DuPont™ Kevlar® AP (Advanced Performance) yarn offered an ideal solution.
For many years, Gee-Chang had relied on DuPont™ Kevlar® K29 1500d yarn for its strength, quality, proven performance and lightweight in manufacturing its high-pressure industrial hoses. In 2010, a customer requested a hose with improved burst pressure at the same weight.
The latest DuPont innovation in fiber technology, DuPont™ Kevlar® K29 AP provided the improved performance that Gee-Chang needed. With up to a 15% increase in tenacity compared to the standard DuPont™ Kevlar® product, DuPont™ Kevlar® AP was ideal for this application. DuPont™ Kevlar® K29 AP also features outstanding strength, performance fatigue, temperature and chemical resistance and burst strength. Gee-Chang very easily implemented DuPont™ Kevlar® AP into its manufacturing process without making any changes. And, just one month after testing the product, the company was able to achieve its goal of improving burst pressure in its high-pressure hoses by 11%.
By using DuPont™ Kevlar® K29 AP, Gee-Chang was able to increase the burst pressure of its high-pressure hydraulic industrial hoses by 11%, thus dramatically increasing product safety as well. DuPont™ Kevlar® K29 AP provides up to a 15% increase in tenacity compared to the standard Kevlar® product. Gee-Chang was able to implement DuPont™ Kevlar® K29 AP into its manufacturing process without making any changes.
