Add Viton® FreeFlow™ For High-Clarity Thin Films
Improve processing, increase output, reduce die build-up – and produce clear, high-quality films.
DuPontTM Viton® FreeFlow™ added at a ratio of less than one part per thousand in a typical resin formulation, eliminates melt fracture in blown films, and reduces die build-up in extrusions.
By quickly coating the internal die surfaces, Viton® FreeFlow™ improves processing, increases output and reduces waste materials, making your production more cost-effective.
From extrusion pelletizing of resins and masterbatches to the extrusion of finished products, Viton® FreeFlow™ delivers superior results. This highly effective additive works with low- and high-density polyethylenes and metallocenes, as well as other polymers, including PS, SEBS, and ABS.
Whether you’re working with low-density or high-density films, Viton® FreeFlow™ can help you to:
• Lower operating cost.
• Increase output.
• Improve gauge control, cooling.
• Increase melt strength.
• Improve bubble stability.
• Reduce need for blending.
During extrusion manufacturing, die deposits can build up, reducing production rates and surface quality. Viton® FreeFlow™ reduces the build-up, allowing processing to continue with consistent surface finish, a without impact on properties or performance. Extrusion processes, such as film extrusion, wire and cable, blow-molding and extrusion-coating, are all made easier and more efficient.
Tames Tricky Resins, Too
Metallocene resins can be difficult to process. In research conducted by DuPont, resins with Viton® FreeFlow™ were processed with a 25°C lower melt temperature, using the same die pressure. This means higher melt strength and faster cooling for optimal processing conditions.
Z Technology: Next-Generation Additive
Viton® FreeFlow™ Z formula is the answer for manufacturers who have avoided advanced resins because of processing challenges. This transformative additive uses proprietary Z Technology, our most advanced process, to contact and coat the die surface more efficiently than other products. By utilizing this additive, you can manufacture more consistently over a broader range of processing conditions — with fewer negative reactions from other additives in the resin or compound.
Made for Sensitive Applications
Viton® FreeFlow™ Z products have lower olfactory effects during processing, and in final products. They’re also more resistant to discoloration at high processing temperatures. As a result, these finished products are excellent for consideration in sensitive applications, such as food contact films and packaging. In fact, this additive contains no hazardous chemicals, and meets FDA requirements for use as an extrusion aid in manufacturing extruded polyolefins for continuous food contact.
