DuPont features high-performance sealing solutions at Valve World Expo 2018

GENEVA, 26 November 2018 – For the first time at the Valve World Expo, DuPont is exhibiting its high-performance sealing solutions for customers in the oil and gas industry. Our team of experts will be available on stand (Hall 5 – stand E15) to meet and discuss the current industry challenges and pressing sealing needs with players across the value chain.

DuPont will present a breakthrough research paper at the Valve World Conference 2018. Lucie Noé, EMEA Application Engineer, will demonstrate how DuPont™ Vespel® enables customers to reduce valve actuator size over extreme temperature ranges from cryogenic (-196°C) to high temperatures (>300°C) and various pressures.

DuPont has a long history of collaborative innovation in material science to help customers develop solutions that help meet the most pressing industry challenges. In oil and gas, players in up-, mid- and downstream are operating in ever more demanding high-pressure and high-temperature conditions requiring best-in-class valve and sealing solutions. The DuPont™ Kalrez® and Vespel® portfolio offers a range of high-performance parts that can enable customers to meet the most stringent industry standards in terms of reliability, safety, traceability and efficiency for these critical applications.

With almost 30 years of world-class research and application development, the DuPont European Technical Center (ETC) in Meyrin (Switzerland) has become a global hub for material innovation in various leading industries.

In 2017, DuPont ETC further expanded its testing capabilities for Kalrez® in High Pressure – High Temperature (HPHT) environments. With state-of-the art testing equipment, DuPont enables customers to run performance tests in extreme pressure and temperature conditions (up to 1000 bars and 3000 bars maximum pressures respectively in gas and liquid phases, and from -50°C to +300°C) in both gas and liquid phases. This enables customers to generate and use comparative data.

“We are thrilled to be at Valve World 2018, showing our dedicated offering, technical expertise and understanding of future market trends. We work side by side with players along the value chain to design parts, develop materials, and produce tailored solutions.” – said Geoff Lewis, EMEA Application Development Manager at DuPont.

Valve World Expo 2018 will take place from 27-29 November in Düsseldorf (Germany). At Stand H5E15, DuPont will be exhibiting its Kalrez® and Vespel® sealing solutions and demonstrating its testing capabilities. The presentation of DuPont’s paper, “Dimensionally stable lower friction polymeric solutions to reduce valve actuator size over extreme temperature ranges” will be presented by Lucie Noé, Application Engineer at DuPont, in Room 1 at 11.30 am on 29 November.

About DuPont™ Kalrez®

DuPont™ Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) parts are resistant to more than 1800 chemicals and solvents, including sour multi-phase fluids. They retain high levels of elasticity and recovery, even after long-term exposure to harsh environments at elevated temperatures, while offering the high temperature stability of PTFE (327°C). The long-term, proven performance of Kalrez® parts can mean less frequent seal changes, repairs and inspections, increasing process and equipment uptime for greater productivity and yield. More information can be found on DuPont™ Kalrez®.

About DuPont Vespel®

DuPont™ Vespel® Polyimide (PI) parts and shapes are manufactured according to the needs of each customer. Properties of Vespel® help overcome severe sealing, wear and friction challenges, can endure extremes of temperature (both cryogenic and high), and stand up to some of the world’s harshest operating environments.  In addition to polyimides offerings, the DuPont™ Vespel® CR series are a range of composite materials designed to perform in hostile chemical environments associated to the oil and gas industry, particularly high-pressure pumps and valves used in hydrocarbon processing and refining.
