VIDEO: Kids Explore Solar Engineering Careers
DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions (DPVS) was featured in a video from DiscoverE that helps introduce middle school students to engineering as a fun and interesting potential career path by exploring how engineers make a difference in the world.
The video profiles DuPont Engineer Jen Norwood as she hosts students at the DPVS applications lab in Wilmington, Delaware, to help them build and test their own solar panels. The students also visit solar panel installations at DuPont and at a nearby dairy farm, to see solar panels in action and better understand how solar electricity is generated.
DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions is a core element of the company’s focus on Advanced Materials. DuPont is the leading specialty material supplier to the solar industry, with the broadest portfolio of materials designed to help improve the power output, reliable lifetime and return on investment for solar energy systems. Faster and broader adoption of solar power can help reduce global dependence on fossil fuels to create a more sustainable future.
The video was made in collaboration with IEEE and the DiscoverE foundation as part of the DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions sponsorship of EWeek 2014. Over 10 million copies of the video, together with classroom activity workbooks and online activities were distributed to middle school teachers in the U.S. and highlighted on the DiscoverE website, which receives almost 70 million visitors monthly.
