 Expanding the design envelope, new "enhanced performance glass" is being made with state-of-the-art safety materials such as DuPont™ SentryGlas® Plus structural interlayer.
SentryGlas® Plus is 5 times tougher and 100 times stiffer than conventional interlayers. It's also clearer, and more weather resistant, enabling use in frameless and open-edged applications. Because of its structural performance, this unique DuPont interlayer can be bolted or directly attached to specially engineered framing systems.
The safety performance of SentryGlas® Plus includes extra strong impact and intrusion resistance, retention of glass fragments in the event of fracture, and ... unlike other intelayer materials ... outstanding post-breakage load bearing capacity.
When used in horizontal surfaces such as flooring and overhead glazing, laminated safetyglass made with DuPont™ SentryGlas® Plus continues to hold weight, keeping objects from falling through, and keeping glass in its frame. In point-fixtured vertical applications such as balustrades or stair rails, the stiffer interlayer's resistance to bending helps keep people safe even after a glass failure.
