DuPont laminated glass provides a safety glazing material that remains intact when broken. Upon impact, the glass may break, but dangerous fragments will adhere to the resilient plastic interlayer, reducing the risk of injury and fallout. This is especially important in applications such as flooring, overhead glazing, shower and bath enclosures, and even some vertical glazing where fallout is a concern. Another aspect of safety involves impact resistance. Because the interlayer is rugged and resilient, it provides continuing protection and resistance to entry after the glazing is broken. Worldwide, standards commissions have set standards for glazing materials used in potentially hazardous applications.

Examples include:

- Clear balustrades (See project example here.)
- Decorative balustrades (See project example here.)
- Skylights (See project example here.)
- Overhead glazing (See project example here.)
- Interior partitions
- Shower & Bath Enclosures
- Doors
- Glazed Panels
