Singapore skyline montage makes customers ask:
"How did you do that?"
Asia Pacific regional laminator Singapore Safety Glass (SSG)
recently mounted a visually-arresting partition screen, prominently installed
in the main lobby of its company HQ, that shows an impressionistic display
of the Singapore skyline assembled from photos taken in the early morning
light. The panels were laminated by SSG using DuPont™ SentryGlas®
Expressions™ technology.

SSG marketing manager Mark Chiang told LGN: "SentryGlas® Expressions™
is an incredible, state-of-the-art, laminated glass decorative technique
that we wanted to showcase to the curtain wall manufacturers, building
contractors and architectural glass specifiers who regularly visit our
offices.

"The background to the skyline photo is translucent and the images
are deliberately printed in black and white so visitors can see the contrast
in every minute detail of the skyline silhouette. Meanwhile, our employees
behind the screen have a degree of privacy.

"There are five panels of laminated glass in total, with the largest
piece measuring 2.7 m tall by 1.5 m wide. Technically, we wanted to
demonstrate the maximum size at which glass panels incorporating SentryGlas® Expressions™
technology could be manufactured. Eight photo shots were taken at various
angles at high resolution (300 ppi) and were stitched together digitally
to form the final image. Our design team worked on the original photo
with software programs like Photoshop to divide the images into five
panels. After we had approved the samples, the PVB laminate
arrived from DuPont and were laminated into the glass quickly.

"The SentryGlas® Expressions™ installation has certainly
created a lot of interest. The screen looks amazing and our customers
have all been asking us questions on the lines of: "How did you
do that?"
