The recent announcement that DuPont intends to acquire Laird Performance Materials--a world leader in high-performance electromagnetic shielding and thermal management performance components and solutions—will provide DuPont customers with an expanded portfolio of advanced electronic materials.

The Laird Performance Materials expertise is in managing heat and protecting devices from electromagnetic interference. When added to the DuPont portfolio of advanced circuit materials created specifically for high-speed, high frequency electronic applications, the transformation of DuPont’s Interconnect Solutions business into a total solutions provider will be accelerated for customers in key markets including smart or autonomous vehicles, 5G telecommunications, artificial intelligence, internet of things, and high-performance computing.

According to Avi Avula, vice-president and general manager of DuPont’s Electronics & Industrial business, the pending acquisition will provide DuPont’s customers with “a growing portfolio of differentiated products and will enhance our role as a trusted partner delivering proven science, proven materials, and proven solutions to tackle tomorrow’s technology together.”

The DuPont/Laird transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2021, and subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
