Meeting evolving trends with innovative ideas - DuPont unveils Zytel® HTNFR42G30NH
DuPont Transportation & Advanced Polymers, a newly formed business segment within DowDuPont’s Specialty Products Division offering engineering plastics, elastomers, lubricants and specialty silicon material, will be introducing the new DuPont™ Zytel® HTNFR42G30NH - a novel non-halogenated flame retardant high performance polyamide offering with bio-based content for SMT (Surface Mount Technology) connectors - at Chinaplas 2018. DuPont continues its commitment to develop higher performance bio-based materials that can meet increasingly demanding industry standards and requirements. The new non-halogenated, flame retardant, bio-based PPA, Zytel® HTNFR42G30NH, meets the evolving trends for SMT connector applications while providing optimal balance of improved performance and safety, increased productivity, and cost effectiveness.
This new offering is a great addition to our broad Zytel® polyamide portfolio that enables customers to select the most suitable materials for each project. Bridging the cost/performance gap between traditional/engineering plastics and higher-priced specialty polymers, Zytel® HTN high performance polyamide resins are a great viable alternative to metals and thermosets in a wide range of applications.
New Grade that broadens the product line for SMT (Surface Mounting Technology) Connectors
Zytel® HTNFR42G30NH is a 30% glass reinforced, flame retardant high performance polyamide resin that has been developed for connector applications. The novel PPA bridges the performance gap between nylon and more expensive specialty polymers while maintaining ease of processing. Benefits include:
Both Auto and Consumer Electronics industries use SMT (Surface Mounting Technology) process to manufacture connectors. With Asia being a major global production or assembly site for various type of connectors, DuPont expects highest consumption of Zytel® HTNFR42G30NH in China.
“DuPont is committed to driving continuous innovation and raising the bar in meeting/exceeding industry performance standards with environment-friendly offerings. Our High Performance Nylon offerings are meeting global standards with innovative and value-added products. In electrical and electronics markets, Zytel® HTN is often used in applications such as connectors, high voltage insulators and structural components for hand-held devices. Offering a good balance of mechanical and electrical properties, low moisture adsorption, excellent mouldability, high flow, and low mould corrosion, our novel Zytel® HTNFR42G30NH provides advantage over other products, particularly for SMT connector applications. Zytel® HTNFR42G30NH complements our ever-growing portfolio for a solution-driven consumer market,” said Carlonda Reilly, Global Technology Director of Nylon Enterprise & Polyester/Filaments, DuPont Transportation & Advanced Polymers.
Max Chen, technical seminar speaker will introduce Zytel® HTNFR42G30NH for SMT and connector application, on April 25th from 10:00 to 12:00 at Room M7-02 during Chinaplas 2018.
