Vespel® parts and shapes provide high-performance solutions for the toughest sealing, wear, or friction challenges.

DuPont Vespel® parts and shapes are formed by the needs of each customer. Their properties help overcome severe sealing, wear, or friction challenges, endure high temperature, and stand up to some of the world’s harshest operating environments.

With design centers of excellence in Asia, Europe and the Americas, DuPont combines material science with unique collaborative design resources for customers. Vespel® parts and shapes, both custom and stock, have been tested and proven effective in highly demanding applications around the globe.

Vespel® parts and shapes can keep production running more smoothly, improve throughputs, and extend service intervals. The performance of Vespel® parts can also make lighter-weight parts not only practical, but better than standard metal, ceramics and even other engineering plastics.



For Vespel® Custom Parts, DuPont engineers work with part designers to customize the production method and material for desired end-use results. DuPont engineers may recommend fabricating a finished part from Authentic Vespel® stock shapes for prototypes, small quantities or complex geometries.



DuPont Vespel® parts have a unique combination of properties that can replace metal, PEEK or ceramic parts in material handling equipment with high temperatures, high wear or no lubrication.



Vespel® S products are highly durable polyimides used in demanding applications where exceptional thermal resistance (cryogenic to 349°C), low wear and/or low friction, strength and impact resistance are desired as custom parts or stock shapes.

Vespel® ASB assemblies include fiber/fabric reinforced composites with metal backing that offer low wear & friction plus self lubrication, and metal-backed carbon-graphites for self-lubricating wear at extreme temperatures.

Vespel® CP parts offer an array of fiber or fabric reinforced composites for a range of unique design needs when wear and strength are key. Typically CP parts are used in aircraft bushings, washers, bumpers and seals.

AURUM® resins are melt-processable thermoplastic polyimides idea for fabrication methods such as injection molding and extrusion. AURUM® TPI is a registered trademark of Mitsui, Inc.



Vespel® polyimide guide bushings for wastegate actuators provide consistent friction and low wear over the entire life of a turbocharger – even without lubrication in a hot, dirty environment.

Retrofitting the pumps with DuPont™ Vespel® CR-6100 parts for line shaft bearings and stationary wear rings. To demonstrate that Vespel® CR-6100 could survive these conditions, site personnel installed a retrofitted pump and performed a field test.

The operator of a pipeline in the Southwestern U.S. was searching for a case ring material for pumps that would enable improved operating efficiency, increase equipment reliability and avoid the seizing or galling problems encountered with metal components. The metal components were replaced with Vespel® CR-6100 parts, and the results were impressive.
