WILMINGTON, Delaware – June 5, 2025 – Busch PROtective’s AMP-1X ballistic helmet powered by DuPont™ Kevlar® has been selected as the new standard protective helmet for all federal agents within the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), including the FBI. Engineered with advanced materials, this helmet sets a high standard for ballistic protection in law enforcement. This milestone highlights the vital role of Kevlar® in enhancing personal protective equipment for law enforcement professionals across the nation.
Busch PROtective’s federal distribution partner, Predictive Ballistics, has been awarded a five- year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. This contract is for the distribution and accessory support of the AMP-1X helmet system and marks the company's second significant contract with the Department of Justice (DOJ), following its selection by the DEA in 2019. The AMP-1Xhelmet is designed with a proprietary, heatresistant, hybrid aramid material that utilizes the strength and durability of Kevlar® to provide top-level protection and comfort in demanding operational environments.
“Federal Agents need the best possible protection in dangerous situations,” said Steven LaGanke, global segment leader, DuPont Life Protection. “Busch PROtective’s design expertise, combined with our material science, has delivered an exceptionally lightweight and comfortable, high-performing solution – ideal for elite officers carrying increasingly heavy gear in the most demanding operational environments.”
Weighing only 2.8 lbs (or 3.1 lbs with a full FBI operational configuration), the AMP-1X helmet meets the updated DEA-FBI Ballistic Helmet Protocol 2024, which requires high performance in real-world ballistic and environmental conditions. It also complies with NIJ Level IIIAand modified ASTM HG2 standards. The helmet features a boltless design and benefits from the ballistic and thermal properties of Kevlar®, establishing a new standard for tactical protective headgear in law enforcement.
The AMP-1X joins Busch’s flagship AMP-1TP helmet—also built with Kevlar®—in a comprehensive head protection ecosystem that balances lightweight construction with rugged performance. The result is a new level of protection, comfort and field versatility for federal agents and public safety officers.
DuPont is committed to supporting partners in defense, law enforcement and public safety by providing innovative protective solutions powered by Kevlar®, a trusted material for over 60 years, used by militaries and first responders.
