First garment range made with 30% post-consumer recycled content. Aramids are among the fibers with the highest environmental impact due to their durability and manufacturing process. Therefore, in line with Iturri’s circular strategy, it is crucial to reduce the environmental impact of its garments. Protective garments made of NOMEX(R) fabric were carefully collected, sorted, and dismantled. The dismantled fabric was recycled and used to make yarn and fabric again. The result was a fabric with 30% recycled post-consumer NOMEX(r). These garments with recycled content are currently in use, and the process has scaled to an industrial level. It is an innovative solution within the industrial garments business.

Ziel’s 9500 C Series garment made with Nomex® Xtreme Performance is a detachable firefighter coverall designed for emergency response naval forces personnel. The four-layered system is made of Nomex® N305 fibre, which also contains DuPont™ Kevlar® fibre and PBO/antistatic 190g/m² in a gold-yellow colour. The heat barrier inner liner is made from aramid non-woven felt, which is quilted to an aramid/viscose fire-resistant 50/50 inner liner, which is removable. The PBO-containing DuPont™ Nomex® Xtreme Performance solutions is popular in the navy due to its high tensile and tear strength compared to PBI as it provides protection and comfort with high mobility in narrow spaces inside the ship. A detachable inner layer provides the benefit of removing and cleaning, which extends the product life. The fire-resistant coverall is certified to the EN 11612 thermal manikin test standard, with the second- and third-degree burn levels registered at zero percent.
Krystian’s ChemGuard® with Nomex® protective clothing with an acid-resistant finish, which is comprised of a protective jacket and bib-and-brace trousers, is designed for workers in the industrial sector, such as the chemical, mining, gas, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries. Conventional fabrics used for chemical protective clothing can be impregnated with fluorocarbon compounds, which form a protective coating when the wearer comes in contact with the hazardous substance. DuPont™ EcoForce™ finish does not use fluorinated chemistry in its manufacturing process. Nomex® itself is a flame-retardant, heat- and flame-resistant meta-aramid fibre delivering high protection against most acids and bases, gear oils and silicone. In addition, the Nomex® fibres help deliver high vapour permeability, helping to ensure optimum body temperature while working. The clothing is more lightweight and comfortable when compared to equivalent fabrics in the market, and Krystian’s ergonomic cut with elastic inserts ensures freedom of movement during various activities. Moreover, standard acid-resistant garments require re-impregnation with an acid-resistant finish after each wash cycle. ChemGuard® protective clothing does not require re-impregnation and can go through as many as 100 industrial wash cycles, which, in many cases, is the garment’s lifetime.
