As regulatory expectations evolve and sustainability requirements accelerate, selecting the right peelable film for uncoated Tyvek® is crucial. Film Finder Connect for Tyvek® was developed to help customers navigate this challenge—providing expert guidance, pre-evaluated data and a faster path to compliant, high-performing packaging solutions.
In this Q&A, Nicole Kaller, Marketing Leader, EMEA, Tyvek® Healthcare Packaging, explains how the program works, why it matters and how it supports customers in their transition toward more sustainable packaging.
Film Finder Connect for Tyvek® is a guided support program designed to help customers identify the most suitable peelable films for uncoated Tyvek®. It accelerates the path to compliant, high-performing and more sustainable healthcare packaging solutions.
Film Finder Connect for Tyvek® is designed for customers with peelable sterile packaging needs - particularly medical device manufacturers (MDMs) and pharmaceutical companies - who plan to use Tyvek® and are seeking reliable guidance in selecting peelable film structures for proven packaging solutions.
The program was developed in response to increasing regulatory demands, evolving packaging performance expectations linked to standard ISO 11607 compliance requirements, and the growing need for more sustainable solutions aligned with EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) timelines—particularly mono-material structures.
Film Finder Connect for Tyvek® removes complexity by quickly and confidently matching an ideal peelable film to a customer’s specific Tyvek® healthcare packaging application—while considering regulatory, performance and sustainability needs.
By providing a tailored shortlist of compatible standard and mono-material films that are backed by seal-strength data, Film Finder Connect for Tyvek® helps avoid unnecessary trial and error. The result is less testing, lower development costs, and an easier path toward more sustainable mono-material packaging.
Film Finder Connect for Tyvek® helps simplify a crowded technical landscape and complex range of direct-seal films by offering expert guidance, confidence in material compatibility and a faster route to validated packaging solutions—without overextending internal resources.
The process is simple and highly collaborative:
Step 1
Customers submit their application requirements through the Film Finder Connect form.
Step 2
Tyvek® experts review the inputs and identify suitable films based on technical evaluations of film-to-Tyvek® seal performance and sealing process windows.
Step 3
After signing an NDA, our team engages in a one-to-one discussion with you to share tailored recommendations, provide deeper insights and connect customers with film suppliers. Additional testing and support are also available as needed. *
*NOTE: DuPont does not manufacture films. All recommended films are commercially available from designated suppliers.
Film Finder Connect for Tyvek® helps eliminate the need for lengthy trial-and-error testing. Using pre-evaluated sealing data and real application criteria from the DuPont™ Tyvek® team, we provide a curated shortlist of materials already aligned to their requirements. Enabling customers to start with informed, application-relevant options helps drastically reduce investigation and validation timelines.
From a time investment standpoint, the process is also very efficient. After signing an NDA, customers typically spend about one hour in an initial online consultation to share requirements. In return, they can avoid weeks or months of independent research and gain faster access to reliable material recommendations, helping accelerate development and decision-making.
Additionally, our dedicated Tyvek® Film Finder website includes filters to help customers easily submit their requirements, making it easy to get started.
The program is supported by the Tyvek® Healthcare Packaging technical and marketing teams. These experts conduct sealing assessments, review film-to-Tyvek® compatibility, and guide customers through material selection and process optimization.
Next steps include acquiring your own film samples, conducting your in-house testing, validating sealing performance on a customer’s equipment. Of course, the Tyvek® team remains available to accompany the process and provide technical support or process‑optimization guidance.
Manufacturers seeking improved recyclability, companies responding to increasing sustainability regulations such as PPWR and organizations aiming to reduce the environmental impact of their packaging all benefit from mono-material solutions. DuPont™ Tyvek® is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), making it 100% recyclable*. Film Finder Connect for Tyvek® presents PE-based film offerings that can be sealed with uncoated Tyvek®.
* Tyvek® is made of HDPE and products made of 100% Tyvek® material can be recycled at facilities that recycle flexible HDPE materials. Please check recycling facilities in your area to ensure they can recycle Tyvek®
Packaging designers, procurement teams and sustainability leaders working for medical device manufacturers or pharmaceutical companies will feel the greatest impact, along with material suppliers, as compliance expectations evolve.
Regulatory deadlines, including PPWR targets, are approaching quickly. Because packaging conversion cycles and qualification can take years, delaying action increases the risk of non-compliance and higher future costs. Moreover, hospital tenders increasingly prioritize eco‑design, greenhouse gas reduction plans, and recyclable product solutions.
Early adopters demonstrate proactive compliance, sustainability leadership and supply-chain readiness. This strengthens brand reputation and competitive advantage during a major packaging transition period.
By moving early, companies also support meaningful immediate reductions in their carbon footprint through more efficient, sustainable packaging choices.
Solutions such as DuPont™ Tyvek® with Renewable Attribution can further support sustainability objectives by incorporating materials with a lower environmental impact.
Yes. Film manufacturers may submit their films for consideration directly through our Film Finder landing page. All submissions are reviewed against the program’s technical criteria and performance requirements. If suitable, film samples will be requested so the DuPont™ Tyvek® team can conduct the necessary technical evaluations.
