Up until 2012, the Ladakh region of northern India received limited electricity from diesel generators. In partnership with Moser Baer, DuPont has helped develop photovoltaic units that can supply this Himalayan region with reliable solar power for the first time in history.
In the Moser Baer factory we see how these units are manufactured and learn how DuPont materials help ensure reliability and efficiency of the solar power supply in this harsh area of Northern India. DuPont™ Solamet® increases the efficiency of PV electricity, helping lower costs, while DuPont™ Tedlar® offers improved life span and durability, helping protect the units from the harsh conditions of Northern India.
Through the help of Moser Baer and DuPont, Durbuk is now one of 200 hamlets that are making use of their roughly 320 days of sunshine per year. These photovoltaic units are providing the villagers with reliable, lower maintenance electricity all year round, and connecting them to the rest of the world.
