Workers at risk of flash fires and hazardous particulate contaminants can find the ideal balance of protection, durability, and comfort wearing the new Tyvek® 400 SFR from DuPont. Representing a new generation of single-use secondary flame-resistant garment technology, Tyvek® 400 SFR coveralls offer wearers reliable protection against multiple hazards in a single, lightweight solution.

Tyvek® 400 SFR is a single-use secondary flame-resistant overgarment designed to help protect and preserve primary flame-resistant garments, while also providing an effective barrier to a wide range of hazardous and non-hazardous particles. Its multi-hazard protection makes Tyvek® 400 SFR the garment of choice in applications ranging from oil & gas, environmental services, and utilities to general manufacturing, operations, and maintenance.

Commenting on the launch, Dave Kee, Global Business Leader, DuPont Personal Protection says: “Designed with input from customers throughout the development process, Tyvek® 400 SFR represents our commitment to continuous innovation. We were challenged by our customers to improve upon traditional single-use secondary flame-resistant garments and Tyvek® 400 SFR answers that by offering superior particle barrier protection and improved durability in a lighter-weight fabric.”

Made with DuPont™ Tyvek® nonwoven fabric that has been flame-retardant treated, Tyvek® 400 SFR garments offer the proven protection, durability and comfort of Tyvek®, now with secondary flame resistance. If a flash fire occurs, Tyvek® 400 SFR garments will not ignite or contribute to additional burn injury when worn as an ensemble with appropriate primary flame-resistant personal protective equipment.

The garment’s relaxed fit design features a diamond gusset crotch to allow for unrestricted movement and optimal fit when wearing primary flame-resistant protective clothing beneath. Two garment styles are available: a non-hooded coverall with open sleeves and ankles, and a hooded coverall with elasticated wrists and ankles. Tyvek® 400 SFR garments are visibly different than other Tyvek® garments, as they include red external stitched seams, a red zipper, and a red border on the chest patch indicating "Secondary Flame Resistance.”

Tyvek® 400 SFR is also a sustainable garment solution. The coveralls can be recycled through the Tyvek® protective apparel recycling program if not contaminated with any hazardous materials or biohazards.
