Jennifer earned her undergraduate degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and her master’s degree in International Management. Jen has worked in the medical device community since 1991 in a variety of packaging roles – packaging, labeling, and sterilization engineer in operations and R&D, flexible packaging sales representative, and manager of packaging engineering and labeling groups. She is currently the sub-committee chairperson for ASTM F02.50, Package Design and Development, as well as co-chair for AAMI’s ST/WG 7, Packaging Working Group. Jen is an active member of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) where she attained her lifetime Certified Packaging Professional (CPPL) certification. She is also on the Board of Directors and is Vice Chair on its Medical Device Packaging Technical Committee (MDPTC). Jennifer is the editor for the upcoming 3rd edition of the Medical Device Packaging Handbook. She works with downstream customers at medical device and pharmaceutical organizations, providing education and answering questions about Tyvek® packaging and sterilization using her wide range of knowledge.   

Dr. Rafael Auras is the Amcor Endowed Chair in Packaging Sustainability and a professor at the School of Packaging at Michigan State University (MSU). He heads a dynamic research group focused on mass transfer in polymers, biodegradable polymers, life cycle assessment, and designing packaging systems that promote sustainable development. With extensive experience collaborating on research projects for Fortune 500 companies and government agencies, Dr. Auras has co-authored over 200 publications and four books, cementing his reputation as a leading expert in his field.

Kelsey serves as the Global Sustainability Leader for DuPont Personal Protection within the Water & Protection Business, where she develops climate and sustainability action plans.  She has a passion for bringing together diverse groups of stakeholders to deliver solutions to complex sustainability challenges.  Prior to joining DuPont in 2021, Kelsey managed corporate sustainability programs in the distribution and transportation sectors. She holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.  Kelsey received a BS in Environmental Science from Drexel University and a MS in Applied Geosciences from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of the Harvard University Executive Education in Sustainability Leadership Program. 

Laura is the Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and a Professor at the School of Packaging at Michigan State University.  At MSU, she leads the Packaging HUB which stands for Healthcare, Universal Design and Biomechanics.  HUB researchers quantify the interface between people and packaging with the goal of improving health outcomes.  They apply this approach to mitigate the impact of many problems in the healthcare system, including: medication errors; lack of patient adherence; the unintentional exposure of children to hazardous substances; and healthcare associated infections.  During her time at MSU her efforts have been recognized with an Excellence in Teaching Award; a Phi Kappa Phi Excellence in Interdisciplinary Scholarship Award; an appointment as an Academic Fellow in the CIC’s Academic Leadership Program and, more recently, selection as a HERS fellow. 

She has served as an expert to international and national panels convened by ISO, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) and the Gerontological Society of America (GSA). She has been an invited panelist and featured speaker at workshops sponsored by National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine and the US Center for Quality, Innovation and Patient Safety (CQuIPS).  Her interdisciplinary efforts regarding healthcare packaging and ease of use have also been recognized by industry; she was named as one of the 100 most notable people in the medical device industry by Medical Device and Diagnostics Magazine in 2008.  

Work from her group has been published or highlighted in numerous outlets, including: PLoS One, The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the US, Consumer Reports and Men’s Health.

Peylina Chu is a master at helping companies manage the multiple business aspects of ESG and EHS, from materiality, to stakeholder engagement, to strategic investment for business value and positive impact. With her 20+ years of experience, she understands that in addition to traditional regulatory drivers, today’s companies must meet public and customer expectations, investor concerns and non-governmental organization demands. Peylina leads the Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council (HPRC), a private technical consortium of more than 30 brand-leading and globally recognized members, collectively representing greater than $1.2 trillion in market value across the manufacturing, healthcare, and recycling industries seeking to improve the recyclability of plastic products and packaging used within healthcare. 

Graduating with a degree in Materials Engineering & completing an MBA, Patrick has spent 15 years in packaging engineering with a broad range of packaging types & materials.  With a passion for advancing the industry to more sustainable materials he Co-Leads the Institute of Packaging Professionals Sustainable Packaging Technical Committee.

Thierry Wagner has spent over 30 years working for DuPont in its polyester films and nonwovens businesses and is currently the Global Director, Regulatory & Standards – Healthcare, DuPont – Safety & Construction. He is convenor of ISO/TC 198/WG7 “Sterilization of Health Care Products—Packaging” and CEN/ TC 102/WG4 “Sterilizers and associated equipment for processing of medical devices – Packaging”, past-chairman of the Sterile Barrier Association (SBA), member of the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) and actively involved in various ISO and CEN technical committees on medical and pharmaceutical packaging, sterilization and aseptic processing. Thierry is also a member of ISO/TC 210 in charge of ISO 13485 and medical device symbols (ISO 15223 series), ASTM Committee F02 and of the CEN Advisory Board for Healthcare Standards - Europe (CEN ABHS). He earned a master's degree in mechanical and process engineering from ETH Zürich in Switzerland.  He is a featured speaker at international conferences and seminars on medical and pharmaceutical packaging regulatory aspects.

Tatiana Dias joined DuPont in July 2023 as EMEA Regulatory and Standards Consultant for Healthcare Packaging. She brings expertise in Circular Economy and holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham, UK. Her career journey started as a Blue Book Trainee for Health Technology and Cosmetics at DG GROW, in the European Commission. Next, Tatiana moved to work on Medical Devices Regulatory Affairs at MedTech Europe, the European trade association representing the medical technology industries. Over time, she transitioned towards environmental sustainability-relevant topics for the medical technology sector, and she also managed four Committees at the SBA, the European trade association for the healthcare sterile barrier industry. At present, Tatiana is actively involved in ISO and CEN working groups on packaging and sterilisation, as well as key industry associations that strive to advance packaging circularity. 

Haridharan Krishnan is a System Manager at International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC). He holds a Masters in Environmental Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences – Dresden. Hari joined ISCC in May 2023, which is an independent multistakeholder initiative and leading certification system supporting sustainable, fully traceable, deforestation-free and climate-friendly supply chains. He works in the development of ISCC PLUS, which is a voluntary scheme that is applicable for the bioeconomy and circular economy for food, feed, chemicals, plastics, packaging, textiles and

renewable-energy-derived feedstocks. Hari’s main focus areas are Chain of custody options which includes Mass balance, Physical segregation and Controlled blending; Traceability across supply chains and Material eligibility for ISCC PLUS. He is also closely involved in the operational aspects of ISCC PLUS with regards to global legislative developments.

Mr. Kees van der Meulen started in September 1988 in healthcare and after some experiences in healthcare/OR ended up at the Central Sterilization Service Department (CSSD). Here he completed his training sterilization assistant and the education for manager CSD.

After 6 years of experience at the CSSD, he started working as a CSSD manager in 2000. In January 2012 he started as an Expert Sterile Medical Device (DSMH / DSRD) in Bravis hospital.

In addition, he been a board member of the SVN, Dutch Sterilization Association, for 6 years.  In March 2017 he became a board member of VDSMH, Association Expert Sterile Medical Devises, and in 2020 was elected by the members as the chair of the association. He is also a member of the standards (mirrorgroup for CEN/TC 102 and ISO/TC 198) committee "sterilization and sterility" at NEN since 2009. 

Annemarie has been the Sustainable Packaging Manager with Fost Plus since June 2021. She manages the design for recycling project for the Belgian industry who made the ambition to have all household packaging recyclable or reusable by the end of 2025. Annemarie also advises retailers and brand owners how to improve the recyclability of their packaging in line with the current sorting and recycling infrastructure while making it future proof. Before 2021, she worked 15 years in technical commercial and business development roles for some of the leading flexible packaging converters (Amcor, Huhtamaki and Bemis).  She is a bioengineer and passionately provides guidance to the Belgian industry moving closer towards circular packaging solutions.   

Jurgen Van Roosbroeck joined the packaging industry in 2017 focusing on healthcare packing from the start. As part of his responsibilities he looks after the environmental impact of Healthcare Packaging and supports developing procedures for the practicable application of recycling packaging in the hospital environment.

Before joining the packaging world Jurgen gathered extensive experience in both clinical as industrial settings. As an ICU/ER/OR nurse at the University Hospital of Antwerp, Belgium, he witnessed the challenges of waste separation in the clinical setting. After moving into the Medical Device Manufacturing industry he held different responsibilities varying from Sales functions to Educational leadership functions. During the Educational programs he emphasized on need for thoughtful use of packaging materials and the disposal of it. With these learnings Jurgen advocates for early educational programs targeting HCP’s and Healthcare facilities helping the to build sustainable packaging waste streams.

As a trained nurse, he developed interests in business and traveled the globe interaction with HCP’s and other functions in the Healthcare field. With this experience Jurgen tries to support the senseful use of our planets recourses and strives for an early on sensibilization of the need to adapt our use of these recourses.

Christian is a recognized leader with over 28 years of organizational leadership and expertise in disciplines including sustainability, product development and packaging development. Christian leads the sustainability efforts of B. Braun Medical with a high focus on decarbonization, design for circularity and health equity.

Prior to Joining B. Braun Medical in 2022, Christian worked for Mondelez International as Global Program Management Officer for Sustainability. He’s engaged with multiple organizations in the sustainability space including the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the World Wildlife Fund, The Consumer Goods Forum, The Sustainable Packaging Coalition, the Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council, and both the US and Canada Plastics Pacts to develop strategic direction and advance circularity.

Christian holds a BS in Packaging Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology and has extensive knowledge of sustainability strategy, material recovery infrastructure and ESG reporting. He lives in eastern Pennsylvania with his wife, Colleen and their teenage children, Gavin and Ava.
