Dow Building Solutions and Designing Spaces™ Partner to Assist With a Rebuilding Together Project for an Underprivileged Family in Florida
Midland, MI - April 02, 2013 - As showcased on an upcoming three-part Designing Spaces™ special “Spaces of Hope – Rebuilding Together” airing on Lifetime Television on April 4th, Dow Building Solutions (DBS), a market-facing business unit of The Dow Chemical company, joined forces with Designing Spaces™ to help transform the home of a family of five in Florida. DBS provided both GREAT STUFF™ Insulating Foam Sealant and building expertise to help achieve high-performing air sealing that will help the family to save on energy bills, increase comfort levels throughout the year and keep other insects and pests outside. Drawing upon its 60-year heritage of helping to make homes more energy efficient and comfortable and a 30-year partnership with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, the partnership with Designing Spaces™ highlights Dow’s commitment to help underprivileged families and communities in need of support.
“Dow Building Solutions is excited to participate in the Designing Spaces™ project to help educate homeowners on how to approach do-it-yourself projects that help to improve the homes comfort and air quality as well as offer a large return on investment in terms of savings on heating and cooling costs,” said Lee Heronema, Retail Marketing Manager for Dow Building Solutions. “Air sealing is a simple DIY project for homeowners to eliminate drafts and improve comfort in the short term and reduce energy costs long into the future.”
For a family of five in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., the partnership between Dow Building Solutions and Designing Spaces™ brought to life the importance of air sealing for the family’s comfort, indoor air quality and financial savings. Leakage through holes, gaps and cracks is the single biggest cause of home heating and cooling loss, but according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency homeowners can typically save up to 20 percent on home energy costs by air sealing and insulating with spray foam.
“It was a pleasure to partner with Designing Spaces™ to bring the Rebuilding Together mission to a national audience through the Lifetime viewership” said Sandra Einhorn, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Broward County. “Together with the show and the great partnerships and donations by companies such as Dow Building Solutions, we changed the lives of a family, engaged a community to serve a neighbor in need and the end result is quality television programming.”
Tune in to Designing Spaces™ on April 4th airing at 7:30 am (ET/PT) on Lifetime Television to follow along as Heronema demonstrates how to use GREAT STUFF™ Insulating Foam Sealant products to prevent unnecessary heating and cooling loss and improve home comfort while also blocking unwanted insects and pests from entering the home.
