Whether designing for steel stud or brick and block back up, the DuPont™ Ultra Wall System incorporates the most innovative technology in the trusted, proven Styrofoam™ Brand XPS Insulation to provide the highest R-value available in XPS insulation for continuous exterior insulation and integrates an air/weather resistive barrier for simplified design and faster construction.
It was developed in response to feedback from architects and masons in need of a consolidated system for cavity walls that exceeds new energy code requirements without negatively impacting schedule.
Brick and Block Walls
This version of the Ultra Air Barrier Wall System combines the proven insulating power of Styrofoam™ Brand Cavitymate™ Ultra Insulation and the exceptional air sealing capabilities of Great Stuff Pro™ Gaps & Cracks Insulating Foam Sealant. Cavitymate™ Ultra is cut at 15 ¾” length to fit snug between brick ties and boasts the highest R-value of all XPS Insulation.
Masons have been installing Styrofoam™ Brand Cavitymate™ insulation for over 40 years. We’ve simply taken it a bit further to evolve with new code requirements while keeping it in the hands of the mason.
Steel Stud Walls
With the Ultra Air Barrier Wall System using Styrofoam™ Ultra SL, masons can seamlessly install the continuous insulation and air/ vapor barrier while installing their masonry veneer. Contrary to other methods of air sealing, the Ultra Air Barrier Wall System has fewer weather restrictions preventing contractors from delay during winter months.
Additionally the system is entirely in the hands of the mason, meaning one trade is in complete control of the construction and craftsmanship of the exterior wall system. This allows for fewer scaffold sequences, less trade coordination, less labor/cost, and a fast tracked schedule for drying-in the building.
Simplicity and seamless building protection
Self-adhered with a felt top-sheet, new DuPont™ DuraGard™ CM Transition Flashing makes installation easy. This game-changing flashing seals critical transitions and interfaces that are key to achieving complete building envelope protection.
