Enabling the Circular Economy

Despite decades of efforts to reduce waste and recycle, the world is only 8.6 percent circular. Building and construction activities consume almost 50 percent of all global materials annually and account for half of the solid waste entering landfills worldwide. The building industry has a key role to play in developing a sustainable materials system.

We believe that a sustainable building industry is a circular building industry, where no materials are wasted and all materials are reused.

2030 Goal

We will advance the circular economy in the building industry through innovation in materials and business models, collaboration, and end-of-life plans that eliminate and upcycle waste across the product life cycle.

How We're Getting Started

Using Recycled Content

A collection of Corian® Solid Surface colors contain up to 20 percent pre-consumer recycled material. The Corian® Solid Surface pre-consumer waste is recycled into new products — eliminating landfill waste since 2011.

Employee Spotlight: Meet Elle

I've been pumped about recycling since the '90's, and I’m so grateful that my career has led me to work on projects to enable the circular economy at DuPont. My team has identified that, in order to develop scalable solutions to activate more circularity in building and construction, collaborative innovation across the industry is critical. It excites me that my job enables me to make an amplified impact on the planet through waste reduction and reuse.
