Rubber and Elastomers
DOW CORNING™ rubbers and elastomers are designed to fabricate extruded or molded parts and devices for applications which require customization and intricacy. Meeting stringent regulatory standards, this portfolio can be used in the development of medical, surgical and diagnostic devices and components as well as short-term human implants. Our broad portfolio offers two-part platinum-catalyzed and one-part uncatalyzed silicone elastomers. These materials can be post cured to stabilize properties, offer high gas permeability compared with most thermoset elastomers and thermoplastics and provide a range of Shore A hardnesses (50-80).
Choose the right rubber and elastomers for your device applications
- High Consistency Rubber: Millable thermoset silicone elastomers that can be extruded continuously to form a desired size and shape before curing.
- Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSRs): Pumpable thermoset silicone elastomers that can be processed by molding equipment. Ideal for intricate designs and close-tolerance parts.
- RTV Elastomers: Biomedical grade elastomer designed for use in medical device encapsulating and moldmaking applications where cure is at room temperature or slightly elevated temperatures.
- Soft Filling Elastomer: Two-part, platinum-catalyzed, unfilled silicone elastomer commonly used to fill external form prostheses and pressure cushions.
