Cutting-Edge medical techniques and sustainable building design at Forest Park Medical Center
Goal
Create a beautiful hospital that provides the highest energy efficiency possible, thus reducing energy consumption significantly and enabling the hospital to put more resources into patient care.
Challenge
To build a durable, energy-efficient facility that was designed to meet the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Gold program standards, with a wall assembly that helps protect hospital patients and staff from the elements.
Solution
Protect the new wall assembly with the DuPont™ Tyvek® Fluid Applied System, which delivers industry-leading performance with the added convenience of fast, pressure-rolled or sprayed application. This complete, integrated weather barrier system is designed to perform in any climate and under a wide variety of commercial facades.
“Everything starts with the membrane. It’s critical, as all of the building cladding materials—including stone, wood, and brick—must work with it.”
“We water-tested the curtain wall/flashing/air barrier/sealant interface before any veneer was placed over it, then again after veneer/rain screen was placed. This test was conducted at three or four different places. The Tyvek® Fluid Applied System worked just as we expected.”
