Foshan Jialida Dyeing MLD project utilizes DuPont’s FilmTec™ elements to efficiently treat wastewater and recover valuable minerals

WILMINGTON, Del., June 11, 2025 — DuPont is pleased to share that the Foshan Jialida Dyeing Minimal Liquid Discharge (MLD) project in China has been awarded the Industrial Water Project of the Year at the 2025 Global Water Awards hosted by Global Water Intelligence. The project utilizes DuPont's FilmTec™ Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Nanofiltration (NF) membranes in conjunction with DuPont™ IntegraTec™ Ultrafiltration (UF) modules. Combined, these technologies play a crucial role in enabling efficient water treatment, reuse, and resource recovery.

The Foshan Jialida Dyeing MLD project, the largest MLD project in the world, has set a new benchmark in the textile industry by implementing advanced water treatment technologies to help transform the textile wastewater into a valuable resource of both water and salt.  The MLD project reclaims 142,000m3/d of water and recovers 1,000m3/d of sodium chloride brine and 200 tons/d of Glauber’s salt, enabling a circular approach that has reduced the textile factory’s water consumption by 46.86 million m3 per year and salt purchases by 66,000 tons per year.

“We’re thrilled to congratulate Foshan Jialida on winning the Industrial Project of the Year, and it was an honor to accept this award on their behalf at the Global Water Awards,” said Verónica García Molina, Global Marketing Leader for Industrial Water & Energy at DuPont Water Solutions. “This award-winning project underscores our commitment to supporting our customers with advanced technologies that enable compliance to stringent wastewater management requirements while minimizing environmental and cost impacts.”

As industrial end-users face increasing water scarcity, rising water costs, stringent water discharge regulations, and growing needs around valuable resource recovery from various feed water streams, many facilities are seeking alternatives to zero liquid discharge (ZLD) due to its high costs and energy consumption. Adopting an MLD process utilizing reverse osmosis membranes, nanofiltration elements and ultrafiltration modules can help overcome these challenges by minimizing the operating costs of achieving higher water recovery while reducing the amount of energy required to operate compared to traditional ZLD processes thatrely on extensive evaporation.

DuPont Water Solutions’ technologies are helping to purify more than 50 million gallons (nearly 19,000 cubic meters) of water every minute in 112 countries across the world.  DuPont offers market-leading technologies to address a variety of challenges faced by water treatment municipalities, seawater desalination plants, and industrial water users, including the microelectronics industry, through a broad portfolio of membranes, resins and complete systems. The team is also innovating solutions that can help balance the world’s growing water and energy demands, with products that support the production of electricity, lithium and green hydrogen.
