Dedicated polymeric adsorbents for selectively removing bitter substances

Processing fruit juices can generate bitter substances from the fruit peel or pit, resulting in undesired flavors. For example, the citrus juice industry requires the removal of limonin and naringin to improve taste. 

DuPont offers dedicated polymeric adsorbents that selectively remove these bitter substances. Additionally, our adsorbents can be regenerated for multiple uses, providing a cost-effective processing solution for manufacturers.

Unlock beverage quality by removing unwanted color bodies and precursors

The color value of beverages is important for quality control.  Even after multiple treatments, residual color bodies can still change the color of the beverage during long term storage or shipment. This is a key challenge in beverage processing, especially for fruit juice manufacturers.

The main culprits are oxidized amino acids, polyphenols, flavonoids, and color precursors derived from sources such as tea leaves, pine bark and fruit flesh. These color bodies can be removed by DuPont’s anionic exchange resins and polymeric adsorbents without reducing beverage nutritional content. 

DuPont™ AmberLite™ ion exchange resins and DuPont™ AmberLite™ XAD™ adsorbent resins remove color bodies to trace levels, which helps stabilize the color value of beverages and extends shelf life.
