Shafdan Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), the largest WWTP in Israel operated by Mekorot (Israel’s national water company), needed a system to treat excess secondary effluent to a standard and quality suitable for unrestricted irrigation in agriculture.
DuPont Water Solutions recommended installing a demonstration unit equipped with 35 FilmTec™ Fortilife™ CR100 Reverse Osmosis (RO) elements with pre-treatment provided by a submerged ultrafiltration system.
After ten months online, FilmTec™ Fortilife™ CR100 demonstrated stable operation at 85 percent recovery, with a total differential pressure less than 2.5 bar for the whole system – a significantly lower pressure drop compared to conventional RO elements.
FilmTec™ Fortilife™ CR100 is equipped with advanced fouling-resistant technologies designed to provide relief from biological fouling, meaning that it was able to prevent fouling despite the high fouling potential of the effluent due to its organic load.
Find out more about how FilmTec™ Fortilife™ CR100 is performing at the Shafdan WWTP, where other benefits include energy savings and a 50 percent reduction in cleaning.
