DuPont™ MemCor™ MBR System Retrofit Helps Nestlé Achieve Water Reuse Objectives
Nestlé's dairy processing facility in Kabirwala, Pakistan, sought to increase water reuse and reduce freshwater withdrawal as part of its sustainability strategy. However, the existing membrane bioreactor (MBR) system was not delivering the required treatment capacity or water quality, putting key water reuse objectives at risk.
To address these challenges, Sagisa Process Engineering partnered with DuPont Water Solutions to retrofit the facility with a DuPont™ MemCor™ MBR system featuring 48 MemPulse™ MBR B40N modules. Designed to accommodate the site's wastewater characteristics and loading fluctuations, the upgraded system was engineered to deliver reliable performance, improved water quality, and efficient operation.
The retrofit successfully transformed wastewater into a dependable source of utility water, enabling the facility to meet up to 70% of its utility water demand through reuse. Improved recovery rates, higher treated water quality, and achievement of Minimum Liquid Discharge (MLD) objectives have supported Nestlé's broader sustainability commitments while reducing dependence on freshwater resources.
Today, the MemCor™ MBR system helps the facility maximize water recovery, improve operational reliability, and advance its long-term water stewardship goals.
