Water plays a critical role in the pulp and paper manufacturing process, serving multiple essential functions throughout various stages. While water scarcity can be an issue for some manufacturers, water quality can also present a challenge for plants that rely on an uninterrupted supply of high-quality process and boiler feedwater.
Learn how a pulp and paper manufacturer in Brazil was able to ensure consistent, high-quality water year-round by deploying a multi-technology solution with DuPont™ IntegraTec™ ultrafiltration modules, FilmTec™ reverse osmosis elements, and AmberLite™ ion exchange resins.

DuPont IntegraTec™ Ultrafiltration Modules
Explore the implementation of ultrafiltration as a pretreatment method. A multi-technology approach was selected for this treatment process, where clarified surface water is directed to the Ultrafiltration System, utilizing DuPont™ IntegraPac™ XP 77 IP* ultrafiltration modules. The recovery rate for ultrafiltration is approximately 94%. using DuPont™ IntegraPac™ XP 77 IP* ultrafiltration modules. The UF recovery is approximately 94%
FilmTec™ Reverse Osmosis Elements
UF filtrate water is directly routed to the first pass of the Reverse Osmosis (RO) System. In this process, 60% of the permeate is sent to a second RO System for a second pass, while the remaining 40% is directed to the process water tank. Both the first and second pass RO systems use FilmTec™ BW30HR-440i elements, with an individual recovery rate of 75%.
