Water Treatment Automotive Industry & Manufacturing

Water reuse is a hot topic for automotive manufacturers these days.  While some are already recycling and reusing water for various processes (boilers, cooling towers, paint shop, rinse stages etc) others are just getting started. In either case, an admirable goal for water use per car is much lower today than Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from as recently as 5 to 10 years ago. Automotive companies are in a race to publish and achieve aggressive water use goals in sustainability programs and reports.

Top manufacturers set goals today as low as 1 cubic meter per car – not an easy feat and something that requires a large investment of time and money. Many manufacturers are currently operating at 3 or 4 cubic meters of water per car, sometimes requiring a 75% reduction in water use or more! This isn't only important for sustainability goals, with rising water costs, saving and reusing water can prove to be an exceptional cost savings measure once any initial capital expenditures are completed for infrastructure to do so.

Plant managers and operators can see extraordinary water savings and maintenance improvements by improving and updating their water treatment systems. Those in the financial department generally find interest in these technology upgrades due to impressive Return on Investment (ROI) numbers. Depending on the efficiency of the technology chosen (look to CCRO for impressive recovery and operations stats), ROI can be in as little as 6 to 18 months.
