DuPont Water Solutions Midland Flooding Update

As you’ve likely seen in the news, the community of Midland, Michigan has faced unprecedented flooding after two dam failures this week.

In response to the flooding, we safely idled all manufacturing assets at our Ion Exchange Resin plant to protect our employees and prevent catastrophic damage.

Thankfully, the river crested three feet below predictions and the impact to our plant has been minimal.  That said, it may take a few days to get the plant fully restarted. 

At this point, we expect minimal impact to orders that were scheduled to be shipped between now and June 5^th. Any customers whose orders may be affected in the short-term will be informed of delays promptly.  Depending on when the plant and shipments can restart, there may be some additional disruptions, and as soon as we have more information, we will share.

We are comfortable with the reliability of our supply for these reasons:

• Our warehouses were unscathed and resin shipments from prebuilt stocks will resume shortly. 
• Local shipping and transit challenges are unlikely, as our products are shipped via a route toward Detroit, and the infrastructure and bridges in that direction have not been impacted.
• If there happen to be any long-term ramifications of the flooding, we can leverage our global Ion Exchange production network.  While we are able to quickly move and produce orders to other plants, we don’t expect that we will need to do so.

Many of you have thoughtfully asked about our employees. We are extremely thankful that we have been able to connect with all Midland-based DuPont Water Solutions employees and everyone is safe. We are partnering with United Way of Midland County in order to support the needs of our neighbors and community as efficiently and effectively as possible.
