The Tarragona GWTC offers support to local women’s group

Members of ‘Grup de Dones de Salou’, a local women’s group, recently visited DuPont Water Solution’s Global Water Technology Center in Tarragona, Spain.

‘Grup de Dones de Salou’ is a local non-profit socio-cultural association that supports women by providing training and other personal development opportunities. Aligned with DuPont’s corporate DE&I and sustainability objectives, the team at Tarragona chose to donate five used computers to support the important work of this local community group while also reducing potential e-waste.

The Tarragona team had the opportunity to interact with them during the core value meeting “Tarragona is our home and we are always eager to engage with and provide support to local groups that are helping members of our community,” said Verónica Gómez, Site Leader and R&D Manager, Tarragona. “The members from the Grup de Dones de Salou will be able to put our old computer equipment to good use, helping female members of our community to expand their skills and broaden the opportunities open to them. Not only these computers are going to a good home, but this donation is another example of our vision for a circular economy founded on the principles of reuse, repurpose, and then recycle.”

During their visit, the group learned about the history of the Global Water Technology Center since the facility was opened in 2011 as a collaborative workspace for DuPont scientists, partners, and customers. They observed the extensive application development and analytical testing environments that benefit from the ability to draw on three different water sources to simulate a range of different environments. Now home to more than 40 testing units and 150 separation component stations, the facility has helped launching more than 20 innovative new products since opening.
